Item Description
First is 1-5/8” tall 1942 Ovaltine premium promoted as the Flight Commander Flying Cross Medal. Ads also claimed “24-Karat Gold Finished.” Vast majority of this luster remains. Reverse has his facsimile signature and text “Awarded For Distinguished Service.” Next are three Ovaltine decoders with the first from 1945 known as the “Magni-Magic Decoder” in beautiful and essentially Mint condition. Next from 1947 is a plastic whistle known as the “Whistling Code-O-Graph.” Tiny traces of wear on the mouth piece but very minor and overall Exc. Last is the scarcest of the Captain’s decoders. This is from 1948 and named the “Mirro-Magic” decoder. This has 2” diameter brass front with two tiny holes to display the letter and numeral combination, which is set by turning the center knob. Reverse is a red plastic with a metal rectangle at center to use for signaling. This red plastic back warped and was very quickly lost by many recipients. This example has only the slightest warping and still maintains a firm grip to the front brass. Pinpoint tarnish dots on the front but still a vast majority of luster remains. Robert Overstreet Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA.
