Item Description
This ring is among the rarest and most desirable of all premium rings. The ring is one of two designs produced in 1941 by Ostby and Barton of Rhode Island. The ring top features an eyeball with accent lines, a diagonal lightning bolt and the initial of the sponsoring milk company, in this case the letter "W." The top of the ring snaps off from the base and on the underside is a paper sticker picturing and reading "Superman." On this piece, surface paper loss removed the last letter of his name plus a few dots around the edge of the sticker but nearly all outside the blue line. As the design is so small, the loss is barely visible to the naked eye. The luster on the top of the snap-off piece is fine with a few luster traces remaining. The ring base has perfectly formed adjustable bands and one side of the ring features star design and opposite side features planet design. The base displays essentially Mint but with magnification there are very tiny traces of luster loss. This ring was offered in conjunction with the Defense Club milk program. It was available for two bottle caps and 10¢. Of the 27 examples we know of, only three grade N. Mint.
