Item Description
1" celluloid which gives off greenish glow in the dark after exposure to light. As with nearly all examples, the cream bkg. is largely covered with age marks but much lighter than most others we've seen. Button was issued in 1939 and came with a member card titled "Secret Pledge Of The Shadow." The card pledge was to "Stamp Out The Forces Of Evil In This Land. I Shall Recognize Other Members Of The SHADOW SOCIETY By This Card An By The Magic Button Which Only Members May Possess." Although not marked as such, we believe the sponsor of this premium was Blue Coal. In reflected light, some scattered light scratches are detectable but these don't show when viewed straight-on and pin still has its original gloss. Glows nicely. Fine.
