Item Description
This is a rare 1930s toy and the first we've seen of this variety. Rather than having a Mickey doll head that pops out, this is a Dopey head in clown make-up. The wood box w/paper labels is 6.25x6.5x6.5" tall. Has latch on front. Open to reveal 4" tall composition head w/fabric collar and mounted on a spring. The head is marked "Crown" and this same head in flesh color was used for the Dopey puppet. The toy however was produced by Marks Bros. and is marked as such along front edge of the box. Each side panel has same image of Minnie. Label on underside has some surface paper loss. Ouside shows lt. dust soiling and minor edge wear. On the right panel along back edge are some lt. crease lines and a 1" tear in the label, neatly reglued. Box remains quite bright and clean w/very deep color, no signs of fading. VF.
