Item Description
3x8.25x8.5" box. Color replacement pieces on 4 sides and bottom flap. Replaced pieces match well and are located at bottom center of one side, two top corner areas and top center on other side. Only noticeable upon close inspection. Darkened with surface dust. Original store sticker on bottom reading 59¢. By Louis Marx. Still a displayable example of this rare box. Comes with 3x8.5x8" tall lithographed tin wind-up with built-in key. Works. Side of wheelbarrow reads "Popeye Express." Popeye walks with trunk on top of a wheelbarrow. As he walks, a parrot pops his head in and out of the trunk. A small flap at the side of the trunk covers parrot's head when he is in trunk. Flap is frequently missing. This one is intact. Nice detail to Popeye's striped pants, tattoo, shirt with pockets and buttons, and cap. The trunk's luggage strap and padlock are lithographed. Trunk top has destination labels reading: "New York/Asia/Turkey/China." 1932. Light surface dust. Works. Fine.
