Item Description
1930s. Lot of of 6 Pirate premiums. Included are a Pops Pirate Club 3rd Mate letter, Pops Pirate Club 3rd Mate button, and mailing envelope. The envelope and letter and in VG condition overall with edge wear and creasing. The 3rd Mate button is in fine condition with some surface scratches and several surface bumps. Also included in the lot are 3 1930s premiums issued by Maltex Cereal. Letter is 7.5x10.25" blw w/title at top "The Cruise Of The Blue Dart" referring to ship's name. Title of text at center reads "The Jack Masters Treasure Map" and details the history of pirate maps. Text notes that the map that came w/this letter was based on the maps of "Jean Blaeu Of Amsterdam," a cartographer of the 17th century who was captured by pirates. Additional text notes sponsor Maltex and that the "Blue Dart will be sailing to search for the pirate treasure" by the time letter is received. Has facsimile signature of Jack Masters. Margin illustrations are of pirates and the Blue Dart. Has wear along right margin and where it was folded, but VF. Mailing envelope was in fine with general surface wear and age. Also included is a 1" long sharktooth. This appears to be a real tooth and is sharp. Center of tooth has a small hole where tooth could be hung on a necklace and worn and is VF.
