Item Description
Outstanding set in 5.75” X 11” X 1.75” deep beautiful box. Box does not have cellophane window. Box reads “Kerk Guilds Soap Characters from the Land of Oz.” This rare set consists of “The Scarecrow, The Tin Woodman, The Wizard, The Cowardly Lion & The Wicked Witch.” Dorothy is not included as she was sold separately but she is pictured 7 times on box lid and illustrated side panel along with Toto, the Good Witch and other major characters. One side panel reads “for fun in the tub.” Box holds a stiff cardboard insert creating five compartments. This removes to create a 5.50” X 17” long background display panel creating a 3-D effect that includes 4 die-cut tree trunks with leaves and apples at top. In middle of background is Emerald City with Yellow Brick Road leading to it. Each soap is 4.50” tall. Noses of Tin Woodman, Scarecrow & Wizard are flat rather then raised but this appears to be as made. Some paint flaking but as most of the figures were not painted that much, this does not detract from the beauty of this set. 85%-95% of paint remains on characters. Tin Woodman has some aging to “seam” were rivets are painted. Only item missing from set are the original rubber bands which anchored the figures to the background panel. Soaps are sill structurally sound and display VF. Insert is N. Mint. Box has some very light corner tip wear and is Exc. Only the 4th we’ve seen in 38 years.
