Item Description
Philadelphia Badge. 1.25" in ornate brass frame. Scattered hairline scratches in reflected light. Displays Exc. 2" shell attached. Button reads "Souvenir of the Battle of Chateau Thierry July 15, 1916 L.O.O.M." The battle ran from June 6th to 26th and by its end saw US forces suffer 9,777 casualties, of which 1,811 were fatal. Combined Chateau-Thierry/Belleau Wood action brought to an end the last major German offensive of the war.
