Item Description
1.75" striking and beautifully designed button showing large image of early car against green bkg. accented by white clouds above as well as a design of a winged wheel. There were numerous cars that went by the name "American" but we believe this represents the company that began in 1905 and lasted through 1914. Button is missing a backpaper if it had one but seems to be from the 1905 era. Button surface has some slight inward denting but this is just a little noticeable in reflected light. There is also some light all-over surface wear and a couple of very shallow pinpoint indents but nothing deep enough to break the celluloid. Both the denting and surface wear is mentioned for accuracy and shows up only on very close inspection or in reflected light. With normal viewing the entire piece is defect free and this is one of the earliest and best designed car pinbacks we've ever been able to offer. Only example we know of.
