Item Description
1.5" real photo without dot pattern. There are photos of 4 bicycle racers and with magnification name cards above their heads can be read as "Monte Verde, Montano, Spinelli and Artero." In front of these 4 riders is a raised platform which holds what seem to be 8 small mechanical bicycles with simulated human riders. All are perfectly lined up. On the lower right is a man in formal dress with his hand on something that could be a button as if he is about to activate a mechanical bicycle racing game. Side edge of button at 4 o'clock has small dented area but front remains totally clean. Reverse construction of the button is most unusual and very early. There is a circular collet with a horizontal reinforcing bar along with a horizontal spring pin. Backpaper reads "Pioneer Man'f'g Co. Patent, New York, U.S.A." Likely c. 1896-1898. Only example we've seen.
