Item Description
9.75x13.5" mailing envelope contains complete Grape-Nuts premium from 1944. Reverse has assembly instructions. Envelope has no mailing label but slit on left edge w/couple of .5" tears. Blank address area has 1x2.5" ft. stain but overall envelope displays very cleanly. Premium consists of two 9x13" stiff paper punch-out sheets, a 9x12" paper target map w/aerial view of Japanese industrial harbor titled "Harukai" and small sealed envelope containing three marble bombs. Punch-out pieces are for a model airplane designed w/built-in bomb sight plus nine ship, tank and plane targets. The glass 1" square mirror for bomb sight popped loose where glued to sheet w/some silvering loss but easily reglued. Punch-outs are still held by perforations although about 25% of these perforations are loose w/minor bit of creasing along right margin of each sheet. Only one tiny circular piece meant to be punched out and discarded is actually completely loose. Bkg. on one sheet is tanned from lying against mailing envelope. VF. The fragile thin paper map has tanned w/age and has a few tiny margin tears but is totally clean and as far as these go, still an Exc. example. Sealed marble envelope has some lt. bends but Exc. 13x18" glossy paper sign advertising Grape-Nuts Flakes 1944 premium nice large images include Hop and a boy who is playing w/assembled target game. NM. This item is a file copy from the Gold archives and is accompanied by a letter to that effect signed by Gordon Gold.
