Auction #186 - Part II
Item numbers 897 through 2517 in auction 186
Item Description
33" long shirt and attached cowl and 34" long pants with elastic straps to go over feet. Costume also comes with leather-like belt, boots and shorts. Belt has wood fastening loop for buckle. Costume has been professionally made with Captain America's distinct red, white and blue color scheme, letter "A" on forehead, star on chest and striped midrift. Costume is an adult size and made of slightly stretchable material. Cowl has zipper on back. Cowl is made without Captain America's distinctive "wings" which appear on side of his head and is more reminiscent of the Captain America costume of the 1944 serial. We are unsure of what this costume's function was but it appears to have been made c. 1940s-1950s and may have been used as a parade costume or function as a costume for Marvel/Timely character promotion. Area of staining on side of shorts and some spots of discoloration on "A" on forehead. O/w an interesting piece that would look Exc. displayed on a manequin.
