Item Description
Dusty serially-numbered envelope (#1068) holds mint contents consisting of ribbon-bound 6.5x9" "Inaugural Ceremonies Program" plus 6.5x10" engraved invitation folder complete with sepia toned prints of Hoover and Curtis. From the collection of Leroy T. Vernon, a campaign manager for Taft and later Washington D.C. reporter for the Chicago Daily News. Also included is hand-written note on "The White House" stationery from Hoover's secretary (1/2/1930) saying the President and Mrs. Hoover look forward to the Vernons coming for "Supper - Most Informally" but secretary then ads "The President Will Wear His Tuxedo." Also included is slightly age-toned invitation to 2/5/31 "Music" event plus small 3.5x5" program folder for that event listing "Mr. Efrem Zimbalist Violinist" and selections he will play. His son became noted actor and star of 1950s TV "77 Sunset Strip." Also see FDR #52.
