Item Description
One of three different 2-1/8" buttons c. 1900, apparently for those attending a Shriner's convention in Troy, NY. This button reads "Compliments Of International Shirt & Collar Co." Depicted is a camel wearing a Shriner's fez and also the company's shirt collar with small bow tie. An apparent initiate to the group stands in his black socks, pantless but wearing one of the company's shirts as he grasps a rope. He wears a blindfold and his hair is standing on end. Superb color plus bright gold accenting. Reverse has company trademark plus additional advertising for their "Shirt Collars And Cuffs-Noble Goods For 'Noble's' Wear." Paper also specifies "W&H" as the maker. Paper has scattered spots with a half dozen age dots on back along collet but front is 99% clean and glossy. The 1% is a mere hairline .25" of pale gray along bottom rim edge barely showing. Displays NM. One of the very best early product pinbacks. Scarce. Also see #547 and #580.
