Item Description
5x5x8.75". Box lid reads "Sam 'N Andy Both For 5¢." Both sides and front read "Sam 'N Andy Two For 5¢." Inside lid has art image of two Black men w/smiles and straw hats. Caption below reads "They Laughed To Their Hearts' Content." Text on either side of image reads "Two Smokes For 5¢ Very Mild/Just Right." Half of front of box folds down to read "Sam 'N Andy Two For 5¢." Designed for store display purposes. Both sides of box are curved at front upper edge. Outside and paper lining inside box have lt. surface dust. Inside lid image and text is bright and clean. c. 1920s. Made by S. K. Kling, York, Pa. as per 1927 directory of York city factories in first district of Pa. Factory #679. VF.
