Item Description
Cardboard over-sized matchbook sponsored by Buick as promotion for 1936 radio broadcast of heavyweight bout between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling also sponsored by Buick over NBC. Closed cover is 3.5x4.25" opening to 3.5x8". Inside retains 10 of the original over-sized cardboard matches spelling "It's A Knockout." Two matches are missing from right end but text complete. Back cover also has illustrated and text Buick ad. Schmeling defeated the young Louis by KO in 12th round. 5/16" long rub on bottom edge, rest clean and VF.
