Item Description
Early 1950s premium has 1.25" tall by .5" deep plastic face with brass base and battery attached. Large and elaborate ring base has small image of Clarabell on each side. Underside has a brass loop to hold battery and brass wire which leads to the interior of the ring behind the face. Under the three dimensional face of Howdy is a light bulb but ring no longer lights. Bulb could be burned out but changing is not possible because plastic head is held to the base by a pair of small plastic pegs slightly flared out in manufacture so the top is not removable. Howdy's face is pink plastic with reddish-brown freckles and hair accents. Two small areas of color loss on hair, accent paint on mouth and blue eye accents light but present. Our Exc. boxed example in Auction #185 realized $640.00. This example is VF with two minor 1/16" surface holes on original battery. Incomplete rings, minus the wiring, came from maker's inventory find but this complete as issued example is much scarcer. See Cyclone Malone #1065-66.
