Item Description
1.25" picturing young black disk jockey in checkered jacket with "WWRL" microphone at left and a record in the lower foreground. Text reads "Dr. Jive - Birdel's For Records." Button pictures disk jockey Tommy Smalls who broadcasted on a small AM station from the Woodside area in Queens. His show was a Monday-Friday after school favorite and included new releases by local groups from the New York area and reviews of rock and roll events at area theaters. Tommy Small's career was ended by the same payola scandal that terminated the career of Allan Freed. A rare and historic NYC area rock and roll button. Scattered pinpoint air dots as made and slightest tan tone left of his necktie that blends well. Displays glossy and VF. Only the second we've offered.
