Item Description
8.5x11" with 220 pages. ©1950. Published in conjuction w/the 25th anniversary of "21" which was an exclusive, expensive black tie restaurant on W. 52nd St. in New York City. "Published By The Jack Kriendler Memorial Fund Inc." in conjunction with New York Heart Assn., probably as a fund raiser. Contributing artists include Walt Disney, Ham Fisher, Flagg, Hal Foster, Rube Goldberg, Frank Lasswell, McManus, Soglow. Restaurant was noted for its high quality and expensive menu as evident with many of the cartoon subjects. Disney's contribution shows Mickey, Donald and Cinderella getting their bill at the restaurant. Many color plates are of beautiful women, some tastefully suggestive. Along with artists contributing authors includes Sullivan, Lewis Bromfield, John Steinbeck, and an interview with Frank Buck. Ed Sullivan's "Toast Of The Town" gives a 3-page editorial of the '21' restaurant and its clientele. Hardbound cover has light surface age with wear along lower back portion of the spine. Light .25x5" water mark appears on bottom right margin of contents, not affecting appearance and barely noticeable. O/w contents including color illustrations are Exc. Rare. Very limited issue. Only second we've seen.
