Item Description
.75x2.5x9” box shows a Wright original airplane/made by the first name in flying/the Wright-Dayton Co., Dayton, Ohio. 1.25x2” surface paper loss to right side. Box bottom has Quaker Oats Company mailing sticker. 8” long balsa wood airplane with metal clips and paper tail comes with two 7” long wings. Each wing has Orphan Annie Secret Guard “SG” insignia. One wing with crack near center, but intact. 1” tip has been re-glued. Minor dust soiling on fuselage. Hake's Toy Guide Sixth Edition shows generic version as item LAN-168 and ad for this version is item LAN-172. This is the only example of the official 1941 Quaker Oats premium Orphan Annie Secret Guard version of the plane that we know of. Fine. Rare.
