Item Description
9" long tin litho trolley with built-in key. c. 1930. Box shows wear with large but light staining to the top and bottom panels but these are without illustrations. Nice city scene illustration appears on front and back panels. One of these panels has 1" puncture and .25" dia. hole. Two end flaps have been re-attached on inside with tape, one of these flaps is missing the two closure tabs. Box remains quite displayable, our photo shows the better of the two illustrated panels and as such appearance remains VG for display. This box is very rare, few known examples remain. The trolley itself is the rare and more elaborate version with battery operated headlight rather than a litho headlight. Toy works and travels forward, headlight lights. Very detailed images at windows and the trolley is marked "Rapid Transit Company" followed by the number "200." Has electric pole attachment on roof. Light aging, scattered minute paint nicks mostly on top of roof. Toy remains bright and glossy. VF.
