Item Description
In 1969 Aurora introduced the "Frightening Lightning" series of model kits. This was quickly revamped/repackaged later that same year as "Glow In The Dark" kits in totally different boxes. These "first issue" versions look the same as the later 1972 issues, but have distinct differences. First, the boxes have a 1969 copyright as opposed to 1972. They are also on thicker cardboard more like the 1960s Aurora boxes than what followed in the 1970s. To this point, the factory seal is also cellophane as w/the 1960s kits, not the standard shrink-wrap used in the 1970s and beyond. These 1969 versions are much rarer than the 1972 kits. 8.25x8.25x3.25" deep box contains model #481. ©1969 Universal Pictures. Original cellophane shrink-wrap remains tightly factory sealed as issued w/just lt. corner tip wear and remnant of store price sticker on top side. 1" spot of soiling on bottom side panel under cello. Exc. w/contents Mint as packaged.
