Item Description
Both of these pieces are German made and from the very early 1930s. The first piece is 2-3/16" tall with a folded tin base which allows him to stand up and there are additional pieces in the series showing him with other instruments. Both of these depictions of Mickey feature a mouth loaded with teeth and, on the full figure hands which show, each has five fingers and a thumb, another characteristic of the earliest Mickeys. The paint on this piece has some roughness to it but close to 100% remains. The reverse black metal has vertical line of missing color and brown oxidation but the front of the piece remains extremely attractive. Next piece is 1.75" tall die cut tin. On the back there is a tin tab with two tiny slots holding a vertical stickpin. Back of the piece is in silver luster and about ½ of this retains color while the other half has thin brown oxidation. The front of the piece remains NM. At the lower right a .25" metal extension probably enclosed a short rubber tail now missing. Quite scarce. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
