Auction #187 - Part II
Item numbers 927 through 2489 in auction 187
Item Description
Three 9.5" to 10.5" tall painted and glazed terra cotta figures. Made in Italy c. 1960s. Both guitarists have large 2.75" dia. record with "The Beatles" text. Same text appears on Ringo's drum. Record reverses have painted name as produced, but name is not legible. Gold plated accent to musicians' instruments and jacket buttons. Nicely detailed and unlike any other Beatles figurines we've seen. These are the only 3 examples we've seen of this set. We've spent years looking for the fourth member but were unsuccessful. First guitarist missing right hand pinky finger and guitar head. Minor chip on coattail and left elbow. Ringo figure has .5x1.5" chip to coattail which is not noticeable when viewed from front. Both first guitarist and Ringo figure have neck repairs. Second guitarist has thumb tip and fingers on left hand broken. Tip of nose chip. Great visually dynamic figures. Rare. Despite the defects still great figural display pieces. From the Hake Collection.
