Item Description
This gorgeous color button is larger than normal at 1.5". Reverse has W&H paper that came into use in 1913 with the button having been used then or just a couple of years later. The button does read "Merry Christmas" but there is no sponsor's imprint indicating that this was a button used by Whitehead & Hoag salesmen to solicit orders that would include an imprint, as shown on the following item. The button does have a pair of extremely light 1" vertical scratches. These begin in the sky area top center and extend down to the bottom holly wreath. While they catch reflected light they are extremely light and under almost all viewing angles do not show at all. The button has perfect centering, fabulous color and high gloss. Santa's arms are full of dolls, stuffed animals and a drum and he wears aviation goggles on his forehead. His plane in the background is rapidly being buried in falling snow. All of this is surrounded by a wonderful holly wreath with many red berries. Overall with the faint scratches we'll grade this one Exc. but it certainly displays Mint.
