Item Description
First is 1.5" with W&H paper used only 1900-1912. Front pictures powder horn along with six other symbols and the initials "S.D.B." These initials stand for Sons Of Daniel Boone, later named Boy Pioneers Of America, which was a youth program developed by Daniel Beard with its tenents based on the American frontiersman. Possibly used when they participated in 1907 Jamestown Exposition. When Beard joined the Boy Scouts Of American in 1910 as one of their National Scout Commissioners, this S.D.P. group was merged into the fledgling B.S.A. A rare button and the first we've seen in five decades. NM displaying Mint. Next is 1.25" Australian issue with convex tin back and fixed horizontal pin. This button promotes the movie "In The Days Of Daniel Boone" a 1923 serial directed by William Kraft. Additional button text reads "Henly Town Hall Pictures/Commencing Aug. 22nd. For 15 Weeks Serial." A few tiny pinpoint indents on the black background but not breaking the celluloid. Button still displays Mint. Next 7/8" button shows, we believe, the same actor as on the Australian issue but this is an American button with Bastian paper an front text "Daniel Boone Club." A little fade of the red color. 1/8" craze crack through the first letter "O" of his last name. Still displays beautifully. Three of the rarest Daniel Boone buttons.
