Item Description
This button was previously unknown to us when we offered it in Auction #169 and it remains the only example we know of. 7/8" from the late 30s issued in Australia. There are scuff marks around much of the outer edge that will catch reflected light but viewed normally the only age is a little darkening of the green color at the far left, a trace along the upper edge and the slightest hint at 2 o'clock. Reverse has 3/8" hairline split but the cello lays perfectly flat. The entire button has been very slightly flattened so the spring pin on the reverse does not fit entirely beneath the collet but it does hold firmly in position. Overall very good but with full gloss and displaying more like VF. A rarity.
