Item Description
4" tall beautiful figurine by the famous German company, c. 1931. This is #493 in the series w/incised number under base along w/"Rosenthal" company mark. This is the only figure in the series numbered in the 400s rather than the 500s/600s. Of note, this early figurine depicts Mickey Mouse w/a more slender body than other Rosenthals that were produced later. He stands w/hands-on-hips w/a plant behind him that his tail wraps around. All Rosenthal figurines are rare, particularly in the US as they were never distributed here. Rosenthals are considered to be the finest Mickey Mouse figurines ever produced. NM. We have sold two examples of this rare figurine over the years, both having pale gray circles around their eyes w/some additional gray toning accents on the body. This is the first example we've seen of this figure produced in just black and white and w/pie-cut eyes.
