Item Description
20" dia. "Nu-Twist Sun Hat" produced by "Ferris Factories Inc." in York, PA. Fabric with screen printed design and metal rim designed to twist and fold to easily stow when not in use. Likely used in 1948 or 1952 by Taft supporters at the Republican National Convention. A pair of boxes marked with an "X" flank the text with an elephant and musical notes completing the design. Faint scattered dots of toning in field near edge between 3 and 5 o'clock and one tiny pin hole at 11 o'clock. VF. A scarce campaign artifact from one of the most powerful Senators in American history.
