Item Description
Pair of finely detailed 15.5" tall cast metal sculptures, each on 5.5" dia. wooden base w/replaced felt on undersides and thin metal nameplates on front of base. Each figure is based on its namesake opera by noted German composer Richard Wagner. "Siegfried" is based on the title character from  the third of the four music dramas that constitute "Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung)" and depicts Siegfried standing w/spear and shield, a longsword at his side and a winged helmet on his head. Figure has aged patina and is VF overall. "Lohengrin" is based on the title character from the Romantic opera based on the character of medieval German folklore and Lohengrin is depicted standing w/sword and shield, a swan helmet on his head. Base nameplate has two vertical ripples and replaced screw (replacing original small nail) attached plate to base, which has 1-3/8" crack (which is stabilized). Figure has aged patina and is Fine overall. Both of these figures were displayed proudly in the front of a York, PA jewelry store for several decades in the early 1900s.
