Item Description
Pair of "Armor Bronze" bookends, both produced by The S.C. Tarrant Co., Inc, a company that was active in the 1920s and 1930s. Both sets were made in the time-consuming Bronze Clad method, where cast plaster figures were electroplated w/a thin layer of bronze and decorated w/polychrome accents. These were somewhat expensive in their day, selling for $5 and up. Monk reading in library is marked w/"Armor Bronze" label on felted undersides. Some paint wear evident on open book. VF overall. Bust bookends depicting Scottish poet and lyricist Robert Burns. Raised "Rob. Burns" name underneath bust. Unmarked but most likely by the same company. Exc.
