Item Description
Largest 11.5x16.5/smallest is 10x14". First advertises a "Rally Tuesday Nov. 3 12 Noon New Haven Green (Opposite Courthouse)" with speakers including Dave Dellinger and Abbie Hoffman. Top reads "Where Is Freedom?" with floating head portraits of Seale and Erica Huggins and an electric chair behind text at top center. Issued for New Haven, CT Black Panther trial in 1970. Light toning along the top 2" and bottom 1" as well as handling wear most noticeable at edges. Fine. Second is four pages newsprint titled "Serve The People" with "Black Panther Party Platform And Program" on front with graphics of Cleaver. Inside lists "Who Are The Panther 21" with 14 named making this publication from around Dec. 1970 as 13 of the 21 were actually arraigned. The trial lasted eight months and all were acquitted in May of 1971. Light overall toning and an additional horizontal fold in addition to the one at center as issued. Exc. Next is an issue of "Grant's Tomb" from "January 15, 1971" that is ten pages including cover and stapled at top left. The West Side New York publication covers many issues including an article on Jimi Hendrix (page 9) and has ads on reverse including: "Upper West Side Committee To Free Angela Davis" with portrait of Davis; notice of a meeting of "The West Side Committee To Defend The Panthers" and contact information for "The Black Panther Party East Coast Ministry Of Information, Young Lords Party and Gay Liberation Front. Some minor handling wear but overall Exc.
