Item Description
This is the larger of two sizes, measuring 9" tall. While the smaller version is all wood, this has wooden body w/painted composition head. Box features different images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on all sides plus both end flaps. Box text includes "Nifty - Geo. Borgfeldt & Co. - Cameo Doll Co." along w/the earliest Disney copyright of 1928 although doll was produced c. 1931. This box is extremely rare, w/only a few known examples, and this is the only example we've offered in our 49 years. One inside end flap is loose but included while another end flap has been reattached. One side panel w/text has pair of 1" tears w/additional moderate edge wear. Box retains a bright and clean appearance w/deep color. Technically VG but three of the four main panels display Fine/VF. Figure is complete and all original but has noticeable paint wear/flakes to ears, mostly on back of head. Composition head o/w has typical hairlines but remains quite nice w/glossy appearance. Decal on chest is near 100% complete. Body shows only lt. wear, mostly at joints and remains bright and clean. Fabric-covered wire tail has wooden tip. Aside from the paint wear on ears, a Fine example. Michael J. Stern Collection.
