Item Description
11.5" long painted pressed steel body w/two-dimensional tin litho driver and painted metal wheels w/rubber tires. Kokomo Stamped Metal Company, 1928. Car comes w/four 10' sections of metal track w/wooden posts and 14-page instruction/parts book. A portion of the original box's lid comes along in two parts and shows obvious and heavy wear. Remnants of the original illustrated inner cardboard box that held the car just come along. Both are Fair. Toy was quite advanced for the time and very expensive, selling for $10. Car comes complete w/inner motor and track connectors. Motor appears complete but has not been tested. Any period train transformer would operate the toy, none was supplied with the toy as originally issued, you were to supply your own. Car has tiny crazelines to paint, but this has stabilized. Tires have fine stress lines but yellow paint remains intact while black stripe along bottom shows moderate wear w/flaking. Fine/VF overall. Track sections show surface aging, but are complete w/all wooden posts. Fine. Instruction book shows scattered wear w/.5" tear and scattered dust soiling. Fine overall. An interesting 1920s toy to display or operate.
