Item Description
Radio Orphan Annie's most ingenious and very scarce ring issued by Quaker cereals briefly during their final year of program sponsorship in 1942. One of about 13 examples known to us and the only example we know of to have been beautifully re-plated in 14K gleaming gold to Mint appearance. The ring sides picture a "Pursuit Plane" and a "Bombing Plane". Ring top has rivet holding three individual moveable brass plates. Each plate has small hole in graduated sizes and the concept is to hold the ring to the sky and position a flying airplane within the hole. If the image fits within one of the three holes then the plane is at an altitude designated on the brass piece with one of three denominations reading "10,000 Ft./5,000 Ft./2,500 Ft." Under side of ring names maker "Robbins Co./Atteleboro." A unique and spectacular example.
