Item Description
First at 1.25" is wonderful color depiction of Thomas Jefferson. Reverse has vertical stickpin and beneath the back paper is held a 3" ribbon with the exposition logo and colors. Light general wear on the ribbon and back paper has .25" diameter spot of surface paper missing but easily figured out is the text "Louisiana Purchase Souvenir Co." along with name of maker W&H. The button itself is essentially Mint. Next is beautiful 1.75" button with a spring pin joining it to 8.75" ribbon having bright gold text "Celebration Of The Louisiana Purchase Centennial." Button has small images of both Jefferson and Napoleon. Button back paper by W&H includes text "A. Hannerty Idea. Registered By Murillo Studio St. Louis, 1901." There is a second large W&H label on the back of the ribbon which includes inked text from original owner "Lived At 7 Hebron Street/I Went To This Fair/Lived In Washington Indiana." We've seen the button a couple of times but never with this large impressive ribbon and both pieces are NM displaying Mint.
