Item Description
27.5" long terrycloth puppet featured on the "Time For Beany" children's TV series, which featured puppet characters, and began airing locally in Los Angeles in 1949 and nationally on the Paramount Television Network from 1950 to 1955. The show won three Primetime Emmy Awards for best children's show. Created by animator Bob Clampett (of "Looney Tunes" fame), who later reused its core characters in the animated "Beany And Cecil" series. Offered here is an original screen-used puppet that was used live on-air by Walker Edmiston, the veteran actor and voice-over artist, who appeared on dozens of TV programs as well as lending his voice talents to "Time For Beany." Images online of show w/puppet being used are for illustration purposes only and are not included. Puppet is lt. green terrycloth and has black felt back fin and exaggerated eyelashes w/hard plastic eyes. Cecil's nostrils are formed by rubber suction cups w/button at centers. These nostrils have hardened w/age, w/surface crazing and one having edge bent inwards slightly. Eyes have some aging and eyelashes have some scattered glue staining. Back fin has some tiny scattered insect holes where fin meets back and these are only really noticeable when viewed closely. Body has all over scattered age fading, w/less fading inside mouth and under neck. VG overall, but rare and an important piece of early TV history. Comes with Clampett Studio Collection COA that has been signed by Bob Clampett's daughter Ruth Clampett. We offered this very puppet in our July 2014 auction where it sold for $3,795. It has now been re-consigned to us and we are pleased to offer it again.
