Item Description
Complete set of four plus additional rare variant ranging in height from 1-7/8" to 3.5" tall. Made in Germany by Hertwig, 1920s. From "Smitty" comic strip that began in 1922. Set includes Smitty, Herby, Mr. Bailey and Scraps the Dog. Also included is rare Smitty variant depicting him w/one hand in pocket and the other waving instead of both at his sides as more commonly seen. This is the first example of this variant we have seen in our 49 years. All have character names and "Germany" incised on back. All elastic is tight. Herby has scattered paint wear at edges of coat and hat and is VF. Rest are as nice as they come and Exc. to NM overall.
