Item Description
16x18" elaborate Victorian frame housing a detailed plaque features small high relief portraits of Washington and Lincoln at top and larger ones of Grant and Wilson at bottom. Ornate engraved text reads "In God Is Our Strength/First In War, First In Peace, First In The Hearts Of Our Countrymen/Unanimously Nominated At Philadelphia, June 6th, 1872/As We Did In '68 So We Will In '72"; "Cheers From Our Army And Navy, Cheers From Our Red, White, And Blue/General Grant Has Never Been Defeated And He Never Will Be- Horace Greeley"; "Copyright Secured August 2nd 1872." Some minor wear of the nickel plated background at top right and trivial paint wear to the frame. VF. This would have been a very expensive item to produce in 1872. Among the most outstanding dimensional campaign items ever produced.
