Item Description
79x81" linen-backed six-sheet poster for the 12-Chapter serial based on the titular Fawcett Publications comic book character starring Kane Richmond and Marguerite Chapman. Poster features great action scene w/Spy Smasher punching Nazi soldier as Spy Smasher's fiancée and Nazi villain The Mask (sans mask) look on. Smaller inset scene shows Spy Smasher grabbing man from open window. Batting between poster and linen shows obvious margin wear, mostly not affecting poster itself w/the exception of some small tears and 1" margin tear at center left, 1.75" tear at center right and 1.5" tear at lower right. Lower left corner shows moderate wear and bottom center has some vertical creases. Poster has had scattered restoration, w/numerous 1-2" areas of color touch-ups/color fills. This includes spots on Spy Smasher's extended arm, waist and leg as well as to first two letters of "Smasher" in title. Top center has repair to 6.25" vertical tear at center. Technically VG, but would benefit greatly from framing. Very rare w/few known examples.
