Item Description
26.75x40" one-sheet poster for the original 1940 release of director Alfred Hitchcock's spy thriller that tells the story of an American reporter who tries to expose enemy spies in Britain who are involved in a fictional continent-wide conspiracy in the prelude to World War II. The film starred Joel McCrea and Laraine Day, both of whom are pictured at upper left of poster. Lower right is dominated by full body image of McCrea in trench coat. Poster has been folded and was backed w/stiff paper at the time of issue by Independent Poster Exchange of Philadelphia, PA as noted by two inkstamps on back. Margins have had slight trim, but this affects none of the poster's color areas, which remain deep and rich in color. Margins and corners also have scattered pin holes and fold crease intersections show some wear w/small hole at top intersection and some wear along fold lines. No restoration has been to this poster. Despite margin trim, poster would display Fine if framed. A scarce and sought after Hitchcock poster w/great eye appeal.
