Item Description
1.25" button with St. Louis Button Co. paper. Pictured on horseback waving his hat and with surrounding text "Jules Verne Allen's Dairyland Cowhands/Member." In the early 1900s Allen was a professional cowboy, deputy sheriff in Texas and New Mexico and a Texas ranger. Along the way he began to play guitar and sing the songs he learned in cow camps on the trail. After WWI he decided to make music his profession, broadcasting from a number of Texas stations and then heading to Los Angeles. We don't know exactly where this button originated but it is c. late 1920s and the first we've seen. NM displays Mint.
