Item Description
Button sizes are 1.25" up to 2.25". First with W&H paper is dated for 1901 with text "Don't Fail To See Geo. Schwartz's Exhibit/Phila...". First we've seen and NM displaying Mint. Next, with no text, has back paper from Toronto firm Ambrose Kent & Sons. First we've seen and NM displaying Mint. Next with hog bearing letters on its side "O.I.C." also has additional text for a Cleveland firm and slogan "There Can Be But One Best." Black background has some small areas at left and above where the black color is not as solid as surrounding areas but this is as printed. Metal back has some minor tarnish. The celluloid surface is just slightly concave and the piece is missing a W&H back paper. This design was extremely popular during the 1900 presidential campaign with many buttons issued featuring this design and a photo of the Democratic candidate Bryan. Bottom right edge has trivial 1/32" scratch. Still displays beautifully. VF. Last is mother pig with four piglets riding on her back all inscribed by company name "Emmarts." No back paper but we don't believe it ever had one. A tiny dent on side edge and pinpoint dent on reverse collet but button displays glossy and Mint.
