Item Description
3x5.5" postal covers. First reads "I'm Just From Dixie's Land." and depicts a standing African American wearing only one boot. Second has a finely detailed engraving of an African American with text "The Innocent Cause Of The War". Third features a cartoon of an eagle with "Jeff" (Jefferson Davis) held by the pants w/him holding a flag w/skull and cross bones as a group of African Americans look upward, one saying "Golly, Mas'a Jeff You's In A Bad Fix Sure Enough" plus text at bottom reads "Uncle Sam Sends His Bird After Traitor Jeff". Third has spots of light brown toning on front not affecting the cartoon at left. Reverse has brown paper remnants from scrap book mounting at top and is partially sealed. Fine. The others have only minor toning consistent with age. Exc.
