Item Description
This lot consists of a group of items passed down from a torchlight parader. Included are: a 29.5" long fabric belt w/3.25" brass belt plate; 6x10x12" beaver top hat w/large feather plume and embossed metal eagle plate at front and a 5.5" dia and 10" tall parade torch. Belt reads "Harrison & Morton" and has moderate toning of cream background, Fine. Hat has separation along top edge and moderate loss of surface application, Good. The torch has light oxidation over the majority of surface and retains the original wick, VG. While these items have signs of moderate to heavy use they remain charming artifacts of a bygone tradition of campaigning. In fact we'd argue their charm derives from this wear. Much of the surviving torchlight parade material comes from old stock and it is unusual to find a group of items like these that are known to have been used. A really interesting group of campaign artifacts that has had our staff abuzz since its arrival.
