Item Description
Pair of paper items related to sale drive for war bonds and stamps during the Third War Loan Drive in 1943. Both feature same image of Superman as seen on previous item #2058, though the flag he carries features different text - "Victory Through Savings." 8x10-5/8" goal chart has lines for student and teacher's names, school and grade as well as five blocked areas; top box noting fundraising goal followed by weekly chart updates. Chart has been neatly filled out in black ink noting goal of $20, that was met and surpassed from Sept. through Oct. 1943. Chart has aged spots of glue on back at corners and along margins as once mounted in scrapbook. Center left margin has noticeable surface paper lift as removed. Front remains bright and clean and still displays VF overall. 6x6.75" "Certificate Of Achievement" was awarded to same student named on goal chart in Nov. 1943. Same neatly inked name of student and school as well as school principal. Aged spots of glue on back at corners as once mounted in scrapbook. Two small spots of aging on front, but o/w bright, clean and VF. Both are rare, w/few known examples. First we've offered of either in our 49 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
