Item Description
Each is 1.5" and all name the firm Sun Ship & Dry Dock Company. Company was located a few miles south of Philadelphia and launched its first ship in 1917. During WWII it was among the country's five largest ship yards and had eight slip ways. Twenty were added during the war making it the largest operation in the U.S. At its peak, more than 40,000 workers were employed. The company built 281 T2 tankers during the war, about 40% of the country's total. Each button names a particular ship and the dates span August 1, 1944-December 8, 1944. All are Exc. to NM and display Mint. Very scarce single day issues.
