Item Description
2-7/8x7" woven silk ribbon w/scalloped edges. Listed but not shown in Sullivan/Fischer ribbon book as WS-3. This is one of only seven designs they catalogued for Scott. Oval portrait of Scott at center w/text "Lundy's Lane Chippewa." Banner at top reads "The Hero Of Many Battles" and at bottom is a depiction of Scott's victory at "Vera Cruz Cerro Gorda Mexico." A .25" light brown dot of staining in the field below the "O" in "Hero" and three tiny pulls just left of portrait. VF. Fragile by nature this ribbon is a scarce survivor of the 1852 Whig campaign.
