23.75x34". c. 1968 w/Emeryville, CA address at lower right and famous quote "The Racist Dog Policemen Must Withdraw Immediately From Our Communities, Cease Their Wanton Murder And Brutality And Torture Of Black People, Or Face The Wrath Of The Armed People" at lower left.This poster is perhaps the most widely recognized image produced by the Black Panthers. Minister Of Defense Huey Newton sits, eyes fixed on the viewer, in a fan back wicker chair holding a rifle and an African spear. Linen mounted and professional restoration to flatten folds and fix associated surface paper lifts. Fine appearing Exc. as restored. An outstanding historical artifact from one of the most important radical groups of the 1960s.
