c. 1913. 9.25x13.25x1.25" deep textured paper-covered cardboard box w/wonderfully illustrated lid label depicting family watching boys assemble large tower w/pulley crane. Box comes w/original 9.25x12.25" illustrated manual for "The Erector - Structural Steel Electro Mechanical Builder" set by Mysto Mfg. Co. Underside of lid has label listing contents. Box lid has one corner split and label has moderate even aging. Box is Fine overall. This is the very first (and smallest) Erector set, beginning a popular toyline that continues to this day (albeit under a different name). Manual features image of children playing w/Erector Ferris Wheel and airplane w/revolving propeller. Manual is photo-illustrated and features images of the myriad models that could be built w/the included holed metal beams, nuts and bolts,etc. Manual also has prices for additional parts on back cover. Vertical crease as issued w/some scattered wear. Fine. Set is complete and appears unused, w/hardware in original cardboard box. Some pieces have some scattered oxidation and are Fine-VF overall.
